Product News: Windows 10 is here, and comes also for free to update in line for users on Windows 7 or 8.1. To upgrade to Windows 10, you can look at the bottom right corner and it will come back to you.

Zimbra has been working diligently to provide the Support and Documentation for Windows 10 and the new Web Browser Microsoft Edge, and we want to share with you three interesting things about Zimbra Collaboration and Windows 10.

1.- Zimbra Collaboration Briefcase as a Network Share in Windows 10

The Zimbra Collaboration Briefcase uses the WebDAV protocol, and can be connected to Windows 10 like any other network resource. With this method you can have access to all your files from your WebClient and from your computer as well.

2.- Windows Mail app using EAS (Exchange ActiveSync) in Windows 8, 8.1 and Windows 10

Windows 10 comes with a native Mail App, as well as Contacts and Calendar. These tools are really useful for users and IT Administrators as they don’t need to install any other additional software. The Mail, Contacts and Calendar apps support Exchange Activesync, and Zimbra Collaboration provides Exchange ActiveSync on the server side since Zimbra Collaboration 8.5.0, and in Zimbra Collaboration 8.0.9 as beta as well. Only for those who receive ActiveSync as part of their licenses, and not available for FOSS users.

3.- Zimbra Collaboration Web Client in Windows 10 – Microsoft Edge

One of the biggest novelties in Windows 10 is Project Spartan, the new Web Browser, Microsoft Edge. Microsoft Edge is a completely new Web Browser that supports multiple desktop environments, has a minimalist look, as well as features such as Cortana voice commands and annotation for websites.

Microsoft Edge, unfortunately, is not yet supported by Zimbra Collaboration but we are working on this for our next patch. Patch 4, (complete Bugzilla report), Zimbra-webclient-windows10-8.6-003.pngfor Zimbra Collaboration 8.6 to support it, as well in the instructions to fix this in Zimbra Collaboration 8.0.x. In Zimbra Collaboration 8.7 this is set to render properly in Microsoft Edge.
